One Day in the Alpine Tundra
Over the alpine tundra, the land above the trees on a high mountaintop, hangs an enormous rock. Below the rock, a pocket gopher tunnels underground, storing away seeds for winter. The rabbit-like pika begins her harvest of grass and wildflowers. And a boy named Johnny rolls over in his tent as he wakes up for the day. Suddenly, the great rock slips. After centuries of cracking in the cold and heat, the slab is now poised to fall — and change the face of the alpine tundra forever.
