Alice & Edith

Much has been written about Theodore Roosevelt from his carrer in New York politics to his conservationism to his Rough Riders to his Presidency to his disgust of his hand-picked Presidential successor Taft to his "Bull-Moose" third party to his final days but this book fills a very important part largely ignored — his two wives, Alice & Edith Roosevelt. A well-written & equally well-researched biographical novel of the two woman who shared his life. Surprisingly the two women couldn't have been more different. Edith was quiet, reserved, serious-minded, always in tight control of her emotions while Alice was vivacious, warm, and outgoing, her nickname summed her up, "Sunshine." An excellent, entertaining historical novel that brings these two ladies to life as well as the period.
