Sanskrit text, translation and Sankara's Commentary, translated by Alladi Mahadeva Sastry. Adi Sankara's is the earliest extant commentary on the Bhagavad Gita. The text of the Gita as cited by him has come down the centuries as the authentic text and this commentary of his has proved to be of seminal value ever since. Sankara's writings are considered to be the foundation of much of Hindu philosophy including Vedanta.
