Thanks to Josefina
In "Thanks to Josifina, " the Montoya sisters are hard at work weaving blankets that will help them replace the sheep they have lost in a terrible flood. Clara and Francisca blame Josefina for the many hours of work, for it was Josefina who eagerly embraced the weaving idea in the first place. Josefina is hurt and frustrated by the sisters' squabbling. Then she realizes that each of the sisters has a special talent, and when those talents are "woven" together like the strands of a blanket, weaving is much more fun! After reading the story, girls can learn about the beautiful blankets woven in 1824 and can color a T-shirt with dye they make themselves, just as Josefina and her sisters might have.
