Everybody’s out to get Johnny Porno!

It’s the summer of 1973 in New York City and John Albano is just trying to make ends meet. They’ve taken his union card and work is hard to come by. Weekends he picks up the cash from illegal showings of the recently banned porno flick, Deep Throat, for local wiseguy Eddie Vento. Vento has a nephew, a penny ante mobster who can’t stop riding Albano. When he pushes one too many of Albano’s buttons, the nephew winds up with a knot on his forehead and an even bigger grudge to nurse.

Then there’s Albano’s ex-wife, now re-married for a third time but still hung up on her first husband, Louis, a wannabe hustler with a gambling problem. She’ll do anything to get Louis back, no matter what it means to Albano. Or to his new employers.

Albano has another problem he’s unaware of, a dangerous, drugged out ex-cop named Billy Hastings. Convinced Albano once tried to put the make on his wife at a mobbed up bar, Hastings took a swing and missed, but Albano didn’t miss when he swung back — and knocked the cop out. Hastings was caught on tape starting the fight and was forced to retire. So here’s another guy with a grudge, only this one’s a psycho.

Over on the other side of the legal fence are detectives Neil Levin and Steven Brice, who may or may not be on the same side, and Lt. Det. Sean Kelly, a cop who looks out for himself above all else. The NYPD has been given a new priority — rid the streets of porn, especially Deep Throat. At the center of it all is Johnny Porno — god, how Albano hates that name! He’s just a guy trying to earn a few extra coins to pay his way; just a guy trying to stay alive.
